The quaint cobbled streets of Dinan bordered by medieval houses make this Brittany town a truly "must see" French holiday destination. The town remains almost entirely encircled by the original ramparts of the middle ages, strengthened by towers and a late 14th Century castle.

The River Rance flows into the beautiful old Brittany port of Dinan with its quay-side open-air restaurants and commanding 130ft high granite viaduct. The largest Visit Dinan holiday apartment is situated here overlooking the river. Cycles canoes, rowing boats and small motor boats can be rented here for your "adventure" up river.

The nearby quiet village of Lehon, where Visit Dinan's other holiday properties are located, is just a short walk from Dinan under the viaduct and along the quiet canal towpath. Keep you eyes peeled for the otters.

There are excellent bus and taxi services from St. Malo while river launches provide a more sedate link meandering from the port of St. Malo through the barrage and locks of the River Rance. The market takes place on Thursday mornings.

During the Summer there are many small events and every two years the town stages its Fête des Ramparts, one of the biggest medieval festivals in Europe, when Dinan returns to the Middle Ages for a weekend of jousting, battles etc. Great fun for the whole family.
